Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is a handheld entry set in the series' fictional Strangereal world, centred on a conflict between the nation of Aurelia and an invading force equipped with advanced weaponry. The campaign is arranged as a branching mission tree, so the operations you choose determine which route through the war you take and which encounters you see, encouraging repeat playthroughs. You earn credits to buy aircraft and can fit them with parts that adjust handling, durability and weapon performance. Missions mix dogfights with strikes on ground convoys, naval groups and large superweapon targets. Controls are tuned for the PSP's single analogue nub, with radar, external and cockpit views. Ad hoc multiplayer supports dogfights against other players nearby.
