Adventures of Lomax is a side-scrolling platformer for the PlayStation, starring Lomax, a lemming knight. Play is entirely 2D, with hand-drawn cartoon backgrounds and animation, and it borrows some ideas from the Lemmings games: enemies are lemmings that have been transformed, and Lomax can gain temporary abilities that echo the classic lemming skills. Movement centres on precise jumping across platforms, spikes and moving hazards, with a spin attack and stomp used to deal with enemies. Levels are built around exploration for hidden areas and pickups as well as reaching the exit, and boss encounters break up the sets of stages. The tone is light and comic throughout, with fantasy settings such as castles, caves and forests.
