Alien Hominid on PlayStation 2 is a side-scrolling run-and-gun game with hand-drawn cartoon visuals, based on an earlier browser game. You control a small yellow alien stranded on Earth after his ship is shot down, fighting off waves of FBI agents, soldiers, vehicles and oversized bosses. Your alien dies in one hit, so progress depends on memorising attack patterns and making use of grenades, weapon pickups and close-range moves such as burrowing under the ground to grab enemies. A second player can join for co-operative play through the same stages. The package also includes minigames and unlockable items, including a selection of hats for the alien. Levels are short but demanding, with frequent restarts and a heavy emphasis on precise movement and timing.
