Army Men 3D moves the plastic toy soldier series into polygonal 3D on the PlayStation. You control a green army figure through mission-based levels, viewed from behind the character, fighting rival plastic troops across terrain built from oversized real-world settings. Missions involve objectives such as reaching positions, destroying enemy installations and eliminating hostile squads, with a mix of small arms, grenades, mortars and mounted weapons available along the way. Your soldier is fragile, so cover, careful advances and use of explosives matter more than direct assaults. Environmental hazards fitting the toy scale, such as water and open ground, add to the risk. The game trades the overhead view of earlier entries for a third-person perspective while keeping the series' toy-box premise and squad-warfare mission structure.
