Army Men: Air Attack 2 continues the helicopter-based branch of the plastic toy soldier series on PlayStation. You fly mission stages over battlefields made from scaled-up everyday environments, attacking enemy plastic soldiers, vehicles, gun emplacements and aircraft while completing objectives such as destroying targets, protecting friendly units and rescuing troops. Control uses a chase view behind the helicopter, with machine guns and missiles for offense and limited durability if you stay in the line of ground fire. Different aircraft and mission types vary the pace across the campaign, and stages generally combine open flying with specific goals rather than free-roaming. As a sequel it keeps the arcade-style handling of the first Air Attack rather than moving toward simulation. It suits players who prefer the series' aerial missions to its infantry games.
