Army Men: Air Attack puts you in the cockpit of a helicopter in the plastic toy soldier setting. Rather than commanding infantry on foot, you fly mission by mission over battlefields built from oversized household and outdoor terrain, engaging enemy plastic troops, vehicles, gun positions and aircraft. Objectives commonly include destroying targets, escorting or rescuing friendly soldiers, and clearing areas so ground forces can advance. Your helicopter carries machine guns and missiles, and taking damage from concentrated ground fire ends a run quickly, so keeping moving and managing altitude and approach angles matters. The perspective is a chase view behind the aircraft, giving a wide look at the terrain below. It is an arcade-leaning flight action game rather than a simulation, with short mission stages.
