Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2 on PlayStation is a third-person shooter in which you play as Sarge, fighting the Tan army across mission-based levels. The campaign moves between plastic-scale battlefields and human environments where ordinary objects and rooms become oversized terrain. Weapons are collected as you progress, from firearms and grenades to bazookas, flamethrowers and mines, and missions involve clearing enemy positions, rescuing captured green soldiers and tracking down Tan commanders. Some stages provide vehicles or fixed guns. Briefings before each mission outline the objectives and the situation. Health and ammunition pickups are placed through the levels, and play centers on moving between cover, managing supplies and working through the map's set objectives. Multiplayer deathmatch modes accompany the single-player campaign.
