Bakugan Battle Brawlers for PlayStation 2 is based on the animated series about competitive Bakugan battling. You create your own brawler and work through a story mode, meeting characters from the show and taking part in matches against rival brawlers. Battles follow the toy-and-card structure of the license: you place gate cards on the field, roll or throw your Bakugan to open them there, and the resulting clash is decided by your creature's power and the ability cards you play. Winning matches earns you new Bakugan and cards, letting you adjust your team before harder opponents. Cel-shaded visuals and voice work aim to match the look of the cartoon, and the game includes head-to-head play against a second player.
