Batman: Gotham City Racer is a driving game for the PlayStation built around the look and voice cast style of the Batman animated series. You take the Batmobile and other vehicles through the streets of Gotham on mission-based objectives, such as chasing down criminals, racing against the clock to reach a location, and pursuing villains through traffic. Courses run through recognisable parts of the city, with alleys, bridges and industrial districts, and driving involves dodging civilian cars and scenery while keeping your vehicle intact. Cutscenes in the animated style link the missions into a story. Handling is arcade-oriented rather than simulation-based, emphasising speed, sharp turns and boosting through the city rather than realistic physics or lap racing.
