Battle Hunter is a turn-based strategy game structured much like a board game. You play a hunter exploring dungeon-like maps divided into squares, rolling for movement and spending your turn moving, searching rooms, using items or attacking rivals. The goal of each stage is to find a target item and carry it to an exit, which means rival hunters can attack you to take what you are carrying and claim the objective for themselves. Combat is resolved through a card-based system where both sides play attack and defence values rather than through real-time action. Between stages you can improve your hunter's abilities and equipment. Play supports single-player against computer-controlled rivals as well as multiplayer competition, and stages emphasise positioning, resource management and timing over reflexes.
