Blade II is a third-person action game for PlayStation 2 based on the Marvel character and the film of the same name. You play as Blade, fighting through vampire-held streets, tunnels and buildings. Combat is the core of the game: you chain sword strikes and unarmed attacks into combos, use firearms and thrown weapons, and finish downed vampires so they cannot recover. Extra moves and upgrades become available as you progress, encouraging longer attack strings rather than single hits. Stages are largely linear, sending you through connected areas to clear enemies, find a way past locked routes and reach a boss. The look is dark and industrial, with a heavy soundtrack and cutscenes carrying the story between missions.
