Blasto is a 3D action game for the PlayStation in which you play a swaggering space hero sent to fight off an alien invasion. Gameplay mixes third-person shooting with platform navigation: you move through themed environments, blast enemies with your ray gun, collect power-ups and extra ammunition, and free captured allies held in the levels. Stages are built around jumping puzzles, hazards and enemy encounters, with boss fights punctuating your progress. The tone is deliberately comedic, and the title character is voiced by Phil Hartman, whose one-liners run through the cutscenes and in-game chatter. Controls follow the tank-style movement common to early 3D console action games, with strafing and a targeting assist to help line up shots.
