Bomberman Fantasy Race takes the series away from maze battles and into racing. Instead of running on foot, you ride animal mounts across winding courses, steering through jumps, shortcuts and hazards while collecting items and bombs that can be used to slow down the pack. Mounts handle differently from one another, so learning how each one accelerates and corners is part of doing well on the tougher tracks. Coins and rewards earned from races feed back into building up your racing options. Alongside the single-player circuit there is a split-screen mode for head-to-head play. The presentation keeps the bright, cartoon look of the Bomberman games, with the familiar characters rendered in 3D for a racing setting rather than the usual grid-based arenas.
