Bottom of the 9th 99 is a baseball game for the original PlayStation. You take control of a team on both sides of the ball, choosing pitch types and locations on defense and timing your swings at the plate, with fielding and base running handled once the ball is in play. Games can be played as one-off exhibitions or across longer play, and menus let you set up matchups and adjust your lineup before taking the field. Presentation follows the usual sports-broadcast approach, with a behind-the-pitcher camera for at-bats and commentary and crowd sound over the action. Controls cover the standard baseball repertoire, including stealing bases, pitch-outs, and outfield throws to cut down runners. Two players can compete head-to-head on a single console.
