Brain Dead 13 is an interactive cartoon built from hand-drawn animation. You play Lance Galahad, a computer repairman who answers a service call at a remote castle and finds himself trapped inside with a mad scientist and his bald, axe-wielding butler, Fritz. Play works like an animated obstacle course: each scene presents a hazard, and you press a direction or button at the right moment to make Lance duck, jump, run or grab. Wrong or late inputs lead to one of the game's many animated death scenes, and you retry from the last point. Exploration comes from choosing which route or doorway to take through the castle, gradually opening up new areas. The whole game is presented as a slapstick horror cartoon, with voice acting and continuous animation rather than sprites.
