Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena is a turn-based strategy role-playing game for the PlayStation, set on the continent of Forsena. You choose one of the nations vying for control and work to conquer territory across a map divided into bases. Play alternates between an organisation phase, where you assign rune knights, summon and equip monsters and manage your forces, and an attack phase, where battles play out on grid-based maps. Each knight leads a group of monsters into combat, and both knights and monsters gain experience, level up and can change into stronger classes. Losing a knight in battle carries consequences for your campaign. Story scenes between turns follow the rival nations and their commanders as the war for the continent develops.
