Broken Helix is a third-person action game for the PlayStation set inside a secret government facility beneath Area 51. You play a demolitions expert brought in to deal with a containment problem and quickly find yourself caught between military personnel, scientists and something less human. The lead character is voiced by Bruce Campbell, and much of the story is delivered through spoken dialogue and cutscenes between missions. Play mixes shooting and exploration through corridors, labs and underground levels, with keycards and computer terminals gating your progress. Conversations and choices you make about who to cooperate with steer the plot along different branches, so the story can resolve in more than one way. Camera work and controls follow the tank-style conventions common to 3D games of the era.
