Bubble Bobble Evolution is a PSP entry in Taito's bubble-trapping series. You control a bubble dragon through enclosed stages, firing bubbles to capture the enemies moving around the platforms and then bursting them to clear the screen. Popping several bubbles together yields fruit and bonus items, and power-ups picked up along the way alter your bubbles or your movement. The core loop remains the same as earlier games in the series: work out where enemies will travel, place bubbles to catch them, and use the drift of the bubbles to reach spots you cannot jump to directly. Stages are grouped into sets to work through in sequence, and the handheld release presents the action in an updated visual style built around the familiar single-screen layouts.
