Bubsy 3D moves the wisecracking bobcat out of side-scrolling levels and into fully polygonal environments. You control Bubsy from a third-person view, running, jumping and gliding across blocky alien landscapes while avoiding the Woolies, the extraterrestrials who have taken an interest in him. Levels are built around collecting items scattered across floating platforms and open stretches of ground, with the goal of assembling the parts needed to get home. Bubsy keeps his glide ability, which lets you slow your descent and stretch jumps across gaps, and he retains his habit of commenting on the action with voiced one-liners. Camera control is manual, and movement uses tank-style turning rather than free analog steering, so much of the challenge comes from lining up jumps before committing to them.
