Bujingai: The Forsaken City is a 3D action game for the PlayStation 2. You play as a sword-wielding hero whose likeness and performance are based on the Japanese musician Gackt, fighting through a ruined, mystical city overrun by demonic enemies. Combat centres on dual blades and a wuxia-inspired sense of movement: you chain sword combos, parry and deflect incoming attacks and magic, glide through the air, and run along and up walls to keep fights mobile and vertical. Levels are laid out as a mix of combat arenas and platforming stretches that reward using aerial mobility, and boss encounters cap off sections. Magic attacks supplement the swordplay, and the presentation leans on stylish, effect-heavy visuals and a soundtrack in keeping with its rock-influenced fantasy tone.
