Burnout 3: Takedown makes contact a core mechanic. Alongside boosting through oncoming traffic and near-missing cars, you can slam rivals into walls, barriers and traffic to score Takedowns, which extend your boost capacity and remove opponents from the race. Boost can be chained continuously as long as you keep driving aggressively, so runs build into long stretches of high-speed weaving through live traffic. The World Tour progression covers race events, Road Rage bouts where you attempt as many Takedowns as possible before your car is wrecked, and Burning Lap time trials. Crash mode returns with junction scenarios scored on the size of the pile-up, and the Crashbreaker lets you detonate your wrecked car to push traffic further into the wreck. Crashes are shown in slow motion with impact-time camera control.
