Cabela's Dangerous Hunts shifts the Cabela's hunting license toward confrontation. Instead of only stalking deer, you pursue animals that can and will come after you, including bears and big cats, and much of the tension comes from what happens when a wounded animal charges. You hunt from a first-person view, choosing rifles and other equipment before heading out, tracking your quarry through the environment and trying to place shots before the distance closes. Missions send you to different regions with set objectives rather than open-ended free hunting. The PlayStation 2 release is played with the standard controller, with aiming and scoped shooting handled on the pad.
