Cars 2: The Video Game on PSP takes its cast and settings from the film's spy storyline, dropping the movie's story mode structure in favour of arcade racing and combat events. You pick from characters including Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissile and race on tracks themed on locations from the film, using weapons, boosts, jumps and backwards driving to build up energy for stunts and attacks. Event types mix straight races with battle-style modes and objective challenges, and completing them earns points that unlock further characters, tracks and events. The handling is deliberately loose and drift-heavy, with air tricks and side-bashing encouraged rather than clean lines. Progress is tracked through a training-based framing that presents the races as spy exercises. Multiplayer options let you race against another player.
