A PSP collection built around a remade version of the Castlevania entry originally released for the PC Engine CD, rebuilt with 3D character and environment models while keeping side-scrolling, stage-based play. You take the whip as Richter Belmont, moving through branching routes that can lead to alternate stages and to the rescue of captured women, including Maria Renard, who becomes playable with her own attacks and movement. Progress unlocks additional content: the original version of the game and Symphony of the Night are both included, each playable in full. Voice work was re-recorded for the release, and the menus let you switch between the remake and the archived originals. The package suits players who want the classic linear whip-and-subweapon design and the later exploration-based style in one place.
