Centipede on PlayStation is a reworking of Atari's arcade shooter into a 3D game. Instead of a single fixed screen, stages are built as small 3D environments viewed from behind or above your craft, and you move around shooting at segmented centipedes and other insects that swarm the play area. Shooting a centipede in the middle splits it into separate crawling pieces, keeping the core idea of the original intact. Power-ups and alternate weapons appear as you clear enemies, and stages introduce different insect types and boss-scale creatures. The game is structured as a progression through levels with objectives rather than an endless single board. Play is single-player, and controls use the standard PlayStation pad for movement and firing.
