Chaos Legion is a third-person action game for the PlayStation 2. You play as a knight who fights with a sword while commanding summoned squads known as Legions. Each Legion type has its own behaviour, some rushing enemies in melee, others firing at range, defending you, or striking with heavy blows, and you can swap between the ones you have equipped during a stage. Combat mixes your own attacks with orders that send the Legion forward or recall them to your side, and holding a Legion out reduces your available power, so you balance their use against your own vulnerability. Stages funnel you through arenas of enemies toward boss fights, and experience earned along the way strengthens both the protagonist and individual Legions. A story told through cutscenes runs between missions.
