Chocobo Racing is a kart-style racer for the original PlayStation set in the Final Fantasy universe's chibi spin-off world. You race as Chocobo and other characters drawn from Square's games, each with a distinct special ability, around themed tracks with jumps, shortcuts and hazards. Magic stones picked up on the course grant abilities such as spells and speed boosts, and stones can be combined for stronger effects. Alongside single races and time trials there is a story mode presented in a storybook style, which unlocks additional racers as you progress. Multiplayer split-screen racing is included for head-to-head play. The presentation uses rounded, cartoon versions of familiar Final Fantasy creatures and motifs, with music arranged in the same lighthearted style.
