Colony Wars: Red Sun is a space combat game for the PlayStation. You fly a fighter through open, star-filled battlefields, taking on missions that involve escorting friendly ships, destroying enemy craft and capital ships, and defending or attacking installations. Flight uses a full six-degrees-of-freedom feel, with shields, boosters and a selection of primary and secondary weapons to switch between mid-fight. Rather than a fixed campaign order, you take on assignments as an independent pilot, choosing work and building up your ship's loadout as you go. Objectives can shift while a mission is in progress, and radio chatter keeps you updated on what is happening around you. Presentation leans on cutscenes and voiced briefings between sorties, tying the missions into a wider conflict.
