Cool Boarders 2001 is an entry in the PlayStation snowboarding series. You choose a rider and board and take on downhill courses, linking jumps and aerial tricks while trying to keep your speed up and stay on your feet. Tricks are performed with button and directional combinations in the air, and clean landings are needed to bank your score. Events range from timed races down the mountain to trick runs where scoring is the objective, with progress opening up further riders and gear. The handling is arcade-style rather than simulation-focused, built around momentum, jump timing and reading the terrain ahead. Courses vary in layout and difficulty, with obstacles and drops to work around on the way down.
