Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex is a 3D platformer for the PlayStation 2. Cortex unleashes a creature made of the elements against Crash, and you travel through stages themed around earth, water, air and fire to collect Crystals and Gems. Levels are reached from a hub area and cover a wide spread of styles: behind-the-back platforming, side-scrolling sections, chases toward the camera, underwater swimming, and vehicle stages using craft such as planes, mechs and submersibles. Crash retains the spin, slide, double jump and body slam, and Coco is playable in a number of levels. Crates hide fruit, extra lives and Aku Aku masks for temporary protection, and clearing every box in a stage earns a Gem. Boss fights follow each group of levels.
