Crash Mind Over Mutant is an action platformer with a heavy brawling focus, continuing the style introduced in Crash of the Titans. You guide Crash through connected environments, tackling groups of enemies with melee combos rather than pure jumping puzzles. The central mechanic is taking control of mutants: once you weaken a creature, Crash can hijack it and ride on its back, borrowing its attacks and traversal abilities to break obstacles and reach new areas. Different mutants suit different situations, so swapping between them is part of solving each stretch of the game. A second player can drop in to control Crash's companion during play. Doctor Neo Cortex drives the plot, and the presentation keeps the series' cartoon slapstick tone in its animation and dialogue.
