Crash Twinsanity is a 3D platformer in which Crash Bandicoot is forced into an uneasy alliance with his long-time enemy, Doctor Neo Cortex. Rather than a hub connected to separate stages, the game runs through larger connected areas that you travel across, jumping, spinning and smashing crates as you go. Several sections turn the partnership into a mechanic: you can grab Cortex and use him as a weapon or a sled, and other segments hand control to different characters or switch to chase and vehicle-style sequences. Enemies, gems and hidden routes are scattered through the environments, rewarding exploration off the main path. The soundtrack is performed vocally rather than with a conventional instrumental score, and the tone is comic throughout.
