CTR: Crash Team Racing is a kart racer for the original PlayStation using characters from the Crash Bandicoot series. Races take place on themed circuits drawn from the platform games, with item crates supplying weapons and boosts such as missiles, bombs and shields. Its central mechanic is power sliding: chaining drifts and releasing boosts at the right moment builds and maintains speed, and mastering it is the key to competitive lap times. Beyond single races and time trials, the game includes an Adventure mode in which you drive around connected hub worlds, entering races, boss challenges and collection events while gathering tokens, keys and trophies to progress. Battle arenas and multiplayer split-screen modes support competitive play with other people on the same console.
