Deathtrap Dungeon is a third-person action adventure for the PlayStation, adapted from the Fighting Fantasy gamebook of the same name by Ian Livingstone. You choose between two adventurers and enter a dungeon complex built as a lethal gauntlet, working through corridors and chambers filled with traps, monsters and locked doors. Combat is handled in real time with melee weapons and ranged options, and you gather items, keys and health pickups as you explore. Much of the challenge comes from spotting hazards such as spikes, blades and pits before they kill you, and from mapping routes through the dungeon's levels. The presentation uses polygonal characters and environments with a dark fantasy look, and progress is measured by descending deeper toward the dungeon's end.
