Deception III: Dark Delusion is a strategy game for the PlayStation in which you defend a castle by laying traps rather than fighting directly. Intruders enter your halls in scripted parties, and your job is to place mechanisms on the floors, walls, and ceilings, then lure enemies into positions where those traps chain together for maximum effect. Combining a launching trap with a follow-up hazard and a finisher is central to play, and successful combinations earn resources used to unlock and upgrade further devices. Between stages you manage your arsenal and progress through a story told in cutscenes, with choices and outcomes that branch. Presentation is dark and gothic, with fixed-perspective room layouts you learn to exploit over repeated attempts. Play is deliberate and puzzle-like rather than action-driven.
