Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories is a turn-based tactical role-playing game. You play as Adell, a fighter from the human town of Holt, who ends up travelling with Rozalin, the daughter of the Overlord Zenon, after a summoning goes wrong. Battles take place on grid maps where you deploy units from a base panel, position them for combat bonuses, and use throwing, team attacks and lifting to reach awkward spots. Coloured Geo Panels apply effects to whole sections of the field and can be cleared for chain damage. Between fights you recruit and customise new units by class, manage weapons and skills, and enter the Item World to level up equipment across randomly generated floors. Character and item levels climb extremely high, supporting long-term grinding well past the main story.
