Dog's Life puts you in control of a dog exploring open outdoor areas. You run, jump, dig, bark and fight other dogs, and you can switch into a scent-based view that turns smells into trails you can follow across the map, which is how you track people, animals and buried items. Along the way you eat what you find, cause trouble with people and animals in the environment, and take on tasks that move the story forward as you chase after a kidnapped dog. Extra dog breeds can be taken over and played as, each handling a little differently. The tone is comic throughout, with slapstick animation, toilet humour and a cast of exaggerated human characters reacting to whatever you get up to.
