Dr. Muto is a 3D action platformer for the PlayStation 2. You play a scientist whose experiment has destroyed his home planet, and his plan to rebuild it involves collecting materials and genetic samples scattered across a series of themed worlds. The core mechanic is transformation: Dr. Muto can morph into different creatures, each with its own abilities, so a small form squeezes through narrow gaps, a heavier form smashes obstacles, and others reach places the doctor cannot. Progress mixes platform jumping, light combat with gadgets, and puzzle-solving that depends on picking the right shape for the situation. Levels hide optional pickups to find off the main path, and the tone throughout is cartoonish mad-science humour rather than straight sci-fi.
