Drakengard 2 continues the PlayStation 2 series' mix of large-scale ground battles and dragon-mounted flight. You play Nowe, a young man raised by the dragon Legna, and the story follows the aftermath of the first game's events as the order that keeps the world stable begins to break down. Ground missions have you fighting through massed enemy troops with swords, spears, axes and hammers, each weapon type carrying its own move set and magic attack, and gaining levels as you use it. Flight sections put you on Legna's back, using breath attacks and lock-on targeting against airborne and ground targets. Missions are selected from a map, story scenes fill in the narrative between them, and completing the game opens up conditions for reaching additional endings.
