Driver '76 is a PlayStation Portable entry in the Driver series, set in New York during the mid-1970s. As in the rest of the series, play is centred on driving: you take on missions for criminal contacts around an open city, which involve tailing vehicles, making deliveries against the clock, escaping police pursuit and reaching destinations before time runs out. Period cars handle in a loose, weighty way that rewards handbrake turns and controlled slides, and traffic and police units react to how recklessly you drive. Missions are linked by a story told between jobs, and the city can also be driven freely outside of them. The game is built for the PSP's single analogue nub and shoulder buttons, with on-foot sections kept brief compared with the time spent behind the wheel.
