Elemental Gearbolt is an on-rails shooter for the PlayStation, playable with the controller or a light gun peripheral. Rather than a modern setting, it uses a fantasy world of magic and machinery, and your shots are cast as magical attacks against soldiers, beasts and mechanical foes. The camera moves you through each stage automatically while you aim at targets across the screen, with boss fights closing out sections. Scoring is central: accuracy, speed and target order feed into rankings, and there are bonuses for precise play. Anime-styled cutscenes and narration carry the story between stages, and the soundtrack is orchestral in tone. Two players can shoot at the same screen together. Stage variety includes cities, wilderness and interiors.
