Eragon on PlayStation 2 is an action game tied to the fantasy story of a farm boy who bonds with a dragon. You control Eragon through linear stages, using sword strikes, combos and blocks against soldiers and creatures, with magic attacks that let you strike at a distance or throw enemies aside. A second player can drop in to control an ally, and the two of you can perform combined attacks. Between the ground-based levels are sequences involving the dragon Saphira, where the focus shifts to aerial movement and targeting. Progress unlocks upgrades to your abilities as the story advances through settings drawn from the source material. The presentation leans on the film's characters and locations, with cutscenes carrying the plot between fights.
