ESPN Extreme Games is a racing title for the original PlayStation built around extreme sports disciplines rather than cars. You compete in events using equipment such as skateboards, in-line skates, mountain bikes and street luge, racing down long courses set in outdoor locations around the world. Tracks feature ramps, jumps, traffic and obstacles, and you can shove rival competitors as you jostle for position. Riders perform tricks off jumps for extra points, and finishing well in events lets you continue through the circuit. Modes cover single races, competition against the computer field and two-player play. The presentation uses the ESPN license, with commentary and broadcast-style graphics over the racing action and full-motion video segments between events.
