Evil Dead: Regeneration is a third-person action game starring Ash Williams, again voiced by Bruce Campbell. Combat is the focus: you chain melee attacks with the chainsaw, fire the shotgun and other weapons, and use finishing moves on Deadites as they swarm you. Accompanying Ash is Sam, a half-transformed deadite sidekick who follows you around, trades insults and can be used to reach areas Ash cannot, as well as being thrown or otherwise put to work solving obstacles. Levels move through asylum grounds, swamps and other locations, mixing waves of enemies with light puzzle and platforming sections. The humour is crude and the gore is heavy, in keeping with the series, and the story is presented as its own take on Ash's misadventures rather than a straight retelling of a film.
