This is the PlayStation 2 version of F1 Championship Season 2000, an officially licensed game built around that year's Formula One world championship, including its teams, drivers and circuits. Modes cover single races, time trials and a full championship run, with practice and qualifying sessions leading into each grand prix. You can adjust car setup, race length, weather and the level of driving assistance, so the handling can be pushed toward either an accessible arcade feel or something closer to a simulation. Tyre wear, fuel and damage come into play across longer races. The PS2 release takes advantage of the newer hardware for higher-detail cars and circuits, and broadcast-style camera work and commentary frame the action. Split-screen play is supported for two drivers.
