Galerians is a survival horror game in which you play as Rion, a boy who wakes in a medical facility with no memory and psychic abilities he does not understand. Exploration takes place across fixed-camera environments rendered as pre-drawn backgrounds, with polygonal characters moving through them. Instead of conventional firearms, Rion fights using psychic powers fuelled by drugs he collects and injects, each granting a different offensive or defensive effect. Using these powers raises his mental strain, and letting it climb too far turns his abilities against him, so combat becomes a matter of managing supply and risk. Progress involves searching rooms for documents, keys and drug vials, solving item-based obstacles, and piecing together the story of the facility and Rion's origins through notes and cutscenes.
