Ghost in the Shell for the PlayStation is a 3D action game based on Masamune Shirow's manga. Rather than playing as a human operative on foot, you pilot a Fuchikoma think tank, a multi-legged combat walker that can climb and cling to walls and ceilings. This surface-crawling movement is central to the game, letting you approach enemies and navigate industrial environments from unusual angles while using machine guns and missiles. Missions send you through facilities, streets and interiors on behalf of Section 9, with objectives that mix combat and traversal. Between stages the game presents anime cutscenes produced in the style of the source material, along with briefings that carry the story forward. The controls take some adjustment because of the tank's ability to reorient itself on any surface.
