Gitaroo Man Lives is the PlayStation Portable version of the rhythm game starring U-1, a timid kid who becomes the guitar-playing hero Gitaroo Man. Songs play out as duels: you trace a moving line with the analog nub while holding a button through attack phases, then tap incoming prompts to defend, with each fighter's health bar shifting according to how accurately you play. The handheld release carries over the story mode and its stages, and adds extra content along with head-to-head multiplayer over local wireless so two players can battle through tracks against each other. The art style keeps the original's bright, cartoonish look, and the soundtrack spans rock, acoustic and electronic pieces tied to each opponent.
