Grand Prix Challenge is a Formula One-style racing game for the PlayStation 2. You compete in single-seater open-wheel machines on a slate of international circuits, taking part in practice, qualifying and race sessions. A career structure has you driving for a team across a season, with results affecting your standing, while quick race and time trial options are available for shorter sessions. Assists such as braking help, traction control and racing lines can be switched on or off to shift the handling between accessible and demanding, and pit strategy covering fuel and tyres factors into longer races with realistic distances. Damage, flags and penalties feature during racing. Split-screen play lets a second player join, and replays let you review laps from multiple camera angles.
