Liberty City Stories brings the 3D-era Grand Theft Auto formula to PlayStation Portable, with a story set in Liberty City before the events of Grand Theft Auto III. You play Toni Cipriani, working for the Leone crime family and taking on jobs that draw him into the city's gang and mafia politics. The open world is viewed from behind the character, and you can hijack cars, motorcycles and boats, follow story missions, or roam the city's islands as they become accessible. Radio stations play during driving, side jobs and rampages are dotted around the map, and a wanted level tracks police response until you escape or have your car resprayed. The game is built for handheld play, with missions and saves suited to shorter sessions.
